Thanks for joining me in Part 1 of my TriNova Tire Shine Spray review! This product makes some bold claims—promising a “complete tire transformation,” protection against fading and dullness, a slick wet finish, and easy application. But does it live up to the hype?
In this first part, I’ll walk you through the application, cost per use, initial impressions, and common complaints. A follow-up durability test is coming in Part 2—stay tuned!
What the Label Promises
TriNova markets this as:
A long-lasting, water-based tire dressing
Protection against UV damage and premature aging
Easy to apply with minimal mess
A “deep, wet look” without the greasy feel
Sounds great on paper—but I’ve read quite a few 1-star reviews on Amazon, with common complaints including excessive dripping and poor durability.
Application Method: Skip the Spray
The label says to spray an even coat from 6–7 inches away, but if you’ve watched any of my reviews, you’ll know I’m not a fan of spraying directly on the tire—it wastes product and makes a mess on your wheels and garage floor.
Instead, I applied 3 sprays directly onto a foam applicator pad and worked it into the tire. This helps distribute the product evenly and avoids the drippy mess many people complain about.
The product is quite watery, but that’s not necessarily a downside—it helps spread into grooves, ribs, and lettering. If you spray too much, it just runs off. The trick is layering.
Total Product Used and Cost Per Tire
Before applying, I weighed the bottle at 1.328 pounds. After completing the tire, it weighed 1.312 pounds. That’s 0.016 pounds of product used.
Given the bottle price on Amazon, the cost to shine one tire is roughly $0.23—a decent value if the product holds up.
Scent and Finish
TriNova Tire Shine has a strong fragrance, which may be a plus or minus depending on your preference. Personally, I’m not a fan of overpowering scents, but I know many of you enjoy products that smell good during use.
After a 40-minute dry time, the finish looked great. Even, consistent, and streak-free. No greasy residue, no uneven blotches.
Drive Test: Any Sling?
After a quick drive around the neighborhood at moderate speeds, I inspected the wheel wells and trim. No sling. No streaking. That’s a great sign, especially for a water-based product.
Early Verdict
Compared to the control section (no tire shine), the TriNova Tire Shine Spray definitely enhances the tire’s appearance with a richer, darker finish. As for those 1-star reviews? They seem to stem mostly from poor application techniques—spraying directly onto the tire without working it in.
Still, concerns about durability and how easily it washes off are valid. I’ll monitor that in the coming days and share the results in Part 2 of this review.
Final Thoughts
So far, TriNova Tire Shine Spray has left a good first impression. The key is using the right method: skip the direct spray, apply with an applicator, and don’t overdo it.
